- Hehehe. I finally persuaded my wife to get a NEW processor. I actually ordered my NEW processor. FX-57. People are going to say damn you spent a lot of money on that. No I didn't. I just sold my processor, motherboard, and video card. Thanks to all though on PCGuide who helped me choose the right processor. I chose to make a huge investment because when dual core games start to come out, I could easitly sell my FX-57 (which is a good investment) and buy a pretty high end dual core chip and only spend $100-$300 out of my own pocket. GAME ON!!!!...One more question though please:

- My wife and I were discussing buying a 7800GTX, we agreed, thanks to Saph's reply on showing how golden it is :D , that it's better than the 6800GT's. My 7800GTX will arrive in two days! YEAH! :D Now that I have an SLi motherboard also, I was wondering if it is WORTH the money to buy TWO 7800GTX's and if there's a HUGE gain in performance and benchmarking (which I do a lot of) between 7800GTX SLi and a single 7800GTX??? I was thinking of adding a second one when prices go down. This would be greatly helpful. Thanks again. Oh one more thing: PCGUIDE ROCKS! I learn a S*** load on this site alone. Laterz,

I really don't think that you need a second one right now. You will be able to play all games available now on high settings with high frames. But, when games do require dual-core processing, which will be at least one year, it may be well worth it. Bottom line now is I wouldn't buy a second one unless I really had extra money to blow.

SLI is beneifical for some types of software, and not for others....but the GTX is so bad-ass to begin with, that having two of them means smooth performance even on those apps that don't support SLI. If you've got the cash to do it, then apply your CPU investment theory to the GPU and rock on! FX-57 and dual GTX's is killer. Make sure your PSU supports it though....nothin' quite like a power supply issue to ruin your big day.

Yes, I agree with you Digital. I actually just bought a new power supply: PC Cooling and Power (Thanks to Saph's sticky). After careful research and asking people's opinion, I finally had to give up my ASPIRE 500w (man thing has 34A 12 rating:(). I am not sticking my second 7800GTX until my new power supply comes in. So far a single 7800GTX is doing fine with my FX-57 with my ASPIRE PSU. Thanks to all who replied.

Just keep in mind that two 7800 GTX's in SLI will be CPU-limited, even with the FX57. You won't fully realize their combined performance until more SM 3.0 games come out, or until you get more CPU power.

To wit, I recently read some benchmarks about SLI with these suckers, and it turns out that OC'ing them by a good 30-40% (both of them) gave a whopping 5% boost in 3DMark 05! I thought that was kind of odd until I saw they used only an A64 4000+. It used to be (back in the TNT2 and Rage 128 days) that we never had enough graphical power for our games. Now we're out of CPU power. I guess we can never get a perfect balance...
