Hello all,
I have managed to get my PC into a "right-old-pickle" and I think its time for a return to factory defaults.
I wish to format the HDD and reinstall Win98se although I do not have FDD capabilty, therefore no boot disc. I do have the 98se disc and key.
Question: Is is possible to make a boot disc that will boot up from the CD drive? that will enable me to reinstall win98se.
Am I going about this the right way or can i just format the HDD, set the bios to boot from CD drive, insert the win98se install disc and hope windows will guess what im trying to do.
Suggestions Most Welcome Please.
my system is AMD1400, Via motherboard, RageIIc, SBpci, USBpci, realtekNICpci. E:CDdvd, F:CDRW

Your windows 98 CD should be bootable......

Many Thanks for the reply,
assuming the CD boots and the install initiates.
Does the install process remove all aspects of the previous system/registry/driver updates ??
Should I remove the USB/NIC/SB PCIs prior to this process, to load them individully later, or leave them in for the new install to detect and request .dlls
As you can see I really would like to end up with the basic win98se OS, which hopefully should be stable, without doing something really dumb and having a broken grey box mocking me.
