I have two computers at home, after finding a cure for my main one crashing guess what? number 2 starts playing up.

Anyway, it all started after I tried installing a zip drive. I eventually gave up and as I was pulling the IDE connector out of IDE port 1 the cables came out but the connector stayed in. Luckily I have a number of replacement wires and a pair of pliers and was able to sort everything out.
I set everything back up and fired the monster up. It starts beeps at me, starts running and then when Im guessing it gets to the point where windows would start it shuts down. I say im guessing because the main problem is that the screen stays blank. If that was on then i might be able to do something. The beeping noise it makes it beeeeeeep beep beep beep. Im not sure what that means but i remember reading that different combinations of beeps mean different things.

However sometimes it starts and then no beeps, nothing, the fans whir and that it. Sometimes it does a little more then stops doing anything.

Im at a bit of a loss...

Oh yeah system specs. Don't laugh i only use it for word processing and it has alot of data on it.

PII 233
64mb sd100 ram
250w psu
2hdd's both 5400 rpm and about 4gb each
cdrom drive
floppy drive
4mb ati agp 3d card (ancient)
isa soundcard (isa suxors)
pci network card

cheers for any help in advance guys

If you run an Award BIOS on your m/board, one long beep followed by three short beeps signifies a video card error. --> here (http://www.pcguide.com/ts/x/sys/beep/award.htm)

If you run the modern (post 1994) Phoenix BIOS, the list of error codes is here (http://www.pcguide.com/ts/x/sys/beep/phoenix/new.htm)

Hope that helps.
