DVD-R counrty codes

When I burn a movie onto a dvd is ther such thing as a country code (NTSC, PAL, SECAM) like in DVD's and VHS's bought in stores? Could I burn a DVD movie and some one be able to play it on a DVD player from Europe (for example)

I dont believe so. It's the DVD player that looks for that region code and if it is missing or a different country code, the DVD will not play!

There may or may not be a solution for this, such as region changing software (which I don't know if such a thing exists)
