Hi,

I have aquired (second hand) a HP Pavillion 423.uk PC with a nvidia MX400 graphics adaptor and would like to add a second monitor. This seems a straight forward task, but I dont have the adaptor cable! the question is will any VGA 'Y' cable work or do I need a special cable? if the answer is a special cable, if it is a special cable does anybody know a part number and were I could get one in the UK. Cheers Garry...

Welcome to the PC Guide Forums!! :D

A VGA "Y"-cable will work, but only if you want both monitors to display the exact same image. If that MX400 you inherited only has a single VGA output, then that probably means it doens't have two RAMDAC's, in which case it doesn't support two separate monitors. On the other hand, if it has a VGA and a DVI, then you can hook up two monitors that way.

What exactly are you trying to do?
