A lot of us use Sygate and Kerio. I use Mcafee as my AV and my subscription is active and I use Kerio. Its pretty much idiot proof, perfect for me and is good so far. It's done absolutely nothing, just sits there, so I guess its working :D

I'd recommend it to anyone asking.

You need to get a new AV and a new firewall and blow out that resource eating POS. Then install the free AV and firewall of your choice.

And by the way:

Rov,
You need to uninstall the McAfee before it will allow you to load any other. Try Add/Remove Programs first. I would also try using CCleaner, then try loading the ZA. FYI, ZA free is better than Pro for running lean and mean.

Good luck uninstalling McAfee if it's the suite. I tried on a PC last weekend and it absolutely refused to remove everything--meaning the last thing. It digs in deeper than Norton. Maybe McAfee has a special whiz bang uninstall device on their site like Norton does. Garbage! It's not thier computer, who the hell are they to say what I can or can't uninstall?!

EDIT: I got so fired up I forgot the question. Get Sygate or Kerio while they're free. As was mentioned, if you go with ZA, go with ZA not ZAP.

I've used ZA Pro and ZA free. I'm staying with the free one. I'll never use the Pro again as it gave me nothing but problems. It tries to do too much and consequently fails at what it's supposed to do. If the Pro were free and you had to pay for the free version, I'd still get the "free" one.
