I do competitions and prize draws but recently all my emails are being returned with the message "this message has been returned because it has an apparently executable attachment" (name of attachment),this is a virus prevention measure ,if you meant to send this file then please package it up as a zip file and resend it."
My installed virus detector has not noted any virus and as a precaution I have installed another virus detector and this also has found no virus.
How can I get my emails to be accepted.
Hope you can help.
Regards,
Brian.
Try doing one of the online scans....some of the more recent nasties can disable and/or hide from a virus scan if the program was not running to catch it when the virus was downloaded.
Are you sure that the emails that are being returned are actually ones yousent?
Klez can use any email address it finds in someones address book for the Return line, so the offending piece did not originally have to come from you....

I'm not clear. Is there an attachment (.exe, .com, .vbs, .reg or any of the other usual suspects for virii) that you are trying to send? It may just be an automatic block on anything with those extensions, and the .exe may just be a poorly worded automatic message (the Hitler approach to network administration). If so, contact your isp or network administrator. Who will prolly advise you to zip the files up before sending them.

Some mistakes are too much fun to make only once.

Hi mjc
Thanks for your prompt reply.
I have done an email virus check - negative fortunately.
I have a feeling that the emails returned are (sometimes) not the ones I sent although if I do 5 competitions I get 5 rejecting emails, I sent emails to some of the sites that were rejected and I received a reply from one of them saying that they were an engineering recruiting firm!
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Brian.
