Problem: I want to do a clean install. Millenium and downgrade to 98. 233MHz 48mb RAM, 3gb hd. I have 2 partitions, one 2gb, the other 1. I want to install 98 on the 1gb partition.
Problem is that BIOS doesn't boot to a CD. And the BIOS has a password, (the laptop was given to me from a cousin years ago). Now what?

You may be able to remove that BIOS password by jumpering the CMOS battery on that notebook (Don't try this on an IBM notebook, kids).

IBM has a technology that locks the HDD down if attempts are made to bypass security.

Nevermind. The video card snapped and the keyboard broke whilst the touchpad connecter snapped.
Trashed everything except the hard drive into the trash.
