View Full Version : floppy disk drive squeakes??

its seems like my computer is falling apart everyday i have a new problem !i hope this is the right place to ask this ? My problem for today is i use a digital camera and to view the pictures i put a litle chip i guess into a disk and i veiw them threw acdsee now this is the only disk i use and when i went view the pictures i clicked on the a drive folder but its jumped down to another folder it wouldnt even highlight the a drive folder but the light came on the a drive and made some noises for like a seconed i tried this id say 4-5 times so then i took out the disk blew on it cause its been awhile since its been used it i thought it might be dusty i put it back in and it opened it but its squekes very loudly now as its reading the disk is this something i should be concerend about ? its never made noises like this befor and nothing has changed since the last time i used it please help ????

Sounds like maybe some dirt or dust has gotten into the works of the disk...

Blow on the floppy drive's innards with a can of compressed air(Radio Shack). If that does not fix the problem, then consider replacing the drive.
