I'm pretty new here, but I can see you're even newer. There are some AWESOME people willing to offer their help, but being too vague about system configurations and the like will cause many of them to ignore posts.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I think that projectors simply connect to the same exact sort of port that a standard monitor does. Whether D-Sub or DVI, the magic happens in the projector itself.

I recommend getting the latest drivers and applications for your machine's video card. I've got an old and busted ATI, but the extended desktop works awesome once I waded through the configuration details of Hydravision.

What kind of video card do you have?

I'm not trying to be condescending with these questions, so don't take them personally. Once the background shows on your extended screen, do you click on an application and try to physically drag it into the other screen? Does it just stop at the edge of the screen? Have you tried dragging it to both sides?

The configurability of extended desktop can make it extend in either direction. I have no way of knowing if it chooses to the left or right by default. Do you have a button marked "Identify" on the settings tab of your display properties? It will tell you which monitor the card identifies as 1 vs 2, and might be helpful.

I am a neophyte I guess. I am also admin for a 70 node network here.
The projector worked fine at the close of school last year. It and the dell box just sat around waiting to not cooperate anymore. LOL
I will check the drivers today and see if I can update.
