Just been round to my friends house to set up his wireless network, he has bought a DWL-G122 USBwirless adapter to talk to his DSL 604 router. Now hard wired connectivity from the router to PC works fine i.e internet, local network etc...

Problem being is that when we try the wireless set-up and we have ensured that everything is setup correctly such as SSID's are the same and the WEP keys are the same, but it will not conect at all. Whe you configure the software of the DWL-G122 to ad-hoc instead of infastructure the link light does come permenantly on, but when set it to infastructure the light goes out. When set on infastructure the activity light does roam for a nework, so it is looking for a valid network, but no joy! We have disabled windows firewalls and the installed 3rd party firewall, but still no joy.

Thought I had cured wireless problems but they just keep popping up!

Can anyone advise if had same problem and sorted it out?

You need channel, SSID and WEP key (if used) to make a connection. Hmm they also both need to be able to communicate on the right frequency.

Vriable is correct, as usual, check the channel. Also be aware other wireless devices in the same frequency range (cordless phones) can also cause connectivity issues. I have wireless at my vacation home and I got a 900 mhz phone just for that reason.

ok thanks, but I know the WEP and SSID's are corrct and and im sure the chanels have been changed to. I take it you have to change the channel on the USB wireless software as well as the router so they are both the same, if so the channel option is greyed out when on infastucture mode but you can change it in ad-hoc mode. Once changed in ad-hoc mode and you go back to infastructure mode and you see the new channel, but its still greyed out in that mode. Could this be a software version problem.

Thanks
