I am probably just looking a little confirmation on this issue, but, here it goes...
I have this isue that just started where I have some irratic keyboard and mouse movement. Everything will be fine and then all of a sudden the keyboard will act like I have the space bar held down and the mouse will start moving everywhere. I have a mx laser (logitech) wireless mouse and a run of the mill keyboard. I have done the normal trouble shooting. Like powering down reseating connections. yada yada yada..... But, here is the good part, I can plug in a wired mouse (tried 3 of them) and I get no response at all. I can plug back in the wireless laser and get some response. Power down and reset the motherboard by jumper and the mouse and keyboard will work fine for a couple hours and then boom.........issues happen again. I already have my girlfriend talked into letting me put together another gaming pc for myself. But, this was going to be hers in about 2 weeks when I put mine together. I think it is a motherboard going bad. But, I thought I would pass it through others before I go though the trouble of putting in another motherboard (I think that is the problem). Ill give you my currnet config:
Athlon 2600
radeon 9800 Pro
1GB Corsair 3200 XMS
Chaintech Apogee MB
2 Maxtor 120GB HD

Thanks

I would kill all of the wireless keyboard/mouse software. Remove the wireless devices and then power down the system. Plug in a known working mouse and keyboard.

If there is a mobo problem the bios should error.

Let us know what happens

I have uninstalled all wireless mouse garbage and I know my wired keyboard and wired mouse work (Took it to neighbors house). Brought it back and plugged it in and fired up the PC. Now the mouse is working fine but the keyboard acts as though the right arrow is held down. Powered down and reseated connection and now the mouse is jumping all around and the keyboard is acting fine. :mad:

Do you have any diagnostic program on a bootable floppy that you can use to test the keyboard and mouse?
And serial and parallel ports too.
If you eliminate Windows from the setup and they still malfunction, it's either the hardware or the BIOS.
Tuff-Test Lite = http://www.tufftest.com/free.htm [free]
I cannot remember if this tests keyboard and mouse, but it's worth having anyway.

I got a free diagnostic program to put on a floppy from the Hewlett Packard website [for testing my HP Brio] and was testing yesterday just to see how it worked. It included tests for the mouse and keyboard, and serial & parallel ports.

Is you motherboard battery ok?

EBCD = http://ebcd.pcministry.com/ [free]
This has MANY useful programs and also loads its own mouse and keyboard drivers.

Knoppix = www.knoppix.org/ [free]
This is a more sophisticated Operating System that loads from a bootable CD.
Does the kind of things Windows does, but the OS is unchangeable so cannot be corrupted.
See if your mouse & keyboard works here.
