Hi all of you

Recently I have bought a new PC with the following spec:

Intel p 4 1.8 G
Intel Motherboard D850 GB
256 rambus memory

After installed W2K I couldn’t find how to put my PC on standby mode
Clicking Start menu Shutdown and found only Shutdown, Restart, and Logoff
Through control panel double clicking Power options there are only: Turn off monitor, Turn off
hard disks setting options.
By the way when the same W2K was installed in my old PC I could find this option but in the
new PC I missed this option!!!!
Dose anybody know were did the standby option have gone
Does my new PC think hem self as a server so he doesn’t need to go in standby mode?
Any help well be highly appreciated

"This behavior can occur when you have a third-party OEM device driver or service installed on your computer". How to Troubleshoot Problems with Standby Mode, Hibernate Mode, and Shutting Down Your Computer in Windows 2000 (Q266169) (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q266169)

The MSKB article looks a bit elaborate so hopefully someone else may have an easier or more direct fix.

Not knowing there's an issue with Win2000, I would have mentioned a question as to how you set up the BIOS. If you disable energy savings in W98SE, you don't get the standby mode.

Also a possibility is when installing Windows itself when you get to the "compact, normal and +- custom settings.

There is also the slight possibility that your machine, at least without a BIOS update, won't support the Standby option.

BUt, it seems more like one of the BIOS options like "enable APCI" or "PnP OS" were set to off/disabled.
