Please Please can anyone help us........???????
My friend wanted to uninstall Win95 and install Win98. We found out
how to do this by formatting the C:drive.....all went well at this stage, until we went to install Win98 and the pc wouldn't recognise her CD-ROM(d:drive).....Aaagghh......we tried everything, including re-insalling Win95 but to no avail, nothing would install...
What can we do to rectify this disaster???
If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

Why do you want to install win95 first? Do you only have an upgrade disk to 98?
If the 98 CD you have is the full install there is no need to play around with 95, if it is the upgrade then yes you need 95.
Do you have a win98 boot disk?
If you don't or you can't make one on another machine, go to where (http://www.bootdisk.com) to download one.
then boot to the bootdisk, select "with CD rom support" and then pay attention to which letter the CD gets assigned. Then put in the win98 CD and you should be good to go.....

What mjc said... in order to install something from a CD-ROM, you need the drivers loaded, but you won't have them if you've just formatted your drive...
I've also had problems with bootdisks with CDROM suport in the past (assigning the wrong drive letter, or not reporting the correct space). I ended up copying all the startup files to C and just booting from there, and that worked. Might be worth a try if you're still stuck.
