better make sure the compatibility of your new RAM to your MOBO, if your MOBO support only PC333 RAM then use a RAM that is PC 3333. place those RAM properly aligned

Try resetting the CMOS. Then see if it will boot with the new RAM.
how would i reset cmos, and what will that do? will it effect the bios

Check your mobo manual for the jumper that clears the CMOS. Or if you can't find it (or it doens't exist) just take out the battery for about 10 minutes.
Clearing the CMOS just erases the saved BIOS settings that you have. It doesn't affect the actual BIOS code nor does it erase the default BIOS settings (those are saved with the BIOS).

I remember someone saying they reset to the BIOS default settings and it got the BIOS to redetect the new arrangement of connected RAM. :)
thing is, with the ram in, i cant boot up even, i have to put it in seperatly? i think its a compatabillity issue?

Download and run (from a floppy) MemTest86 (http://www.memtest86.com/) and see what it says about your RAM. You'll have to install each stick separately in order to boot and test it, but at least this way you can see if either of them is bad.
