Hi Feroz,

I would suggest that you get yourself a recent version of Partition Magic. That will help you find your missing 30GB. I would also suggest that you have more than one partition, 3 or 4 would be ideal with one holding your OS, another holding your other programs, another for games or whatever then the final one for doing your OS backup.. Dont know aht anyone else would suggest??

If you have a windows XP Cd it is bootable. You should set up your bios to boot from the cd-Rom before your hard drive or floppy and you will have options for re-formatting and creating partitions before installing your new OS. Hope that helps some.

If you just want to recover the missing partition and then have the choice of making new ones or just one big one plus you aren't ready to put XP in:

Make a boot floppy for W98SE. I like to use the W98 CD itself. Put it in the drive and when it comes up, choose Add/remove programs, there'll be an option tab to make a boot floppy. Make one on a formatted floppy disk then power down. Upon booting go into BIOS to see if your hard-drive is being detected as the size it is supposed to be. If it does, exit and save changes in BIOS. This will begin the boot to get to the boot with CD-ROM support, choose yes and at the A:\> prompt, type fdisk. Depending if you want partitions or not you need to choose the appropriate selection. Once you fdisk the drive it's time to format the one or primary partition for your OS. You can format the optional other partitions later.

After formatting, youy'll get to an A:\> prompt again. Try typing setup and then hit enter, if this doesn't work, change A:\> by typing D:\> Once you see the D:\> type setup and yes to proceed. This should be enough to show you the way out of the woods. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif Good luck.
