I have two questions...

I recently came accross a lot of SCSI/IDE hard drives from work... in a dumpster, what a shame! So I scooped up about 80 pounds worth of these suckers, and now... I need to test them!

I have an IDE to USB adapter, and was thinking of getting a SCSI to USB adapter (any good, yes, no?). Can I plug the drives in via USB and still run the manufacturer's drive utilities? It's USB2.0 as well.

Also, are there any programs to benchmark/test hard-drives? I know at work we use a RAID test program that fills the drive up at top speed, anything like that available for home use?

Download the utilities from the maker of the individual HDD to test them.

If you can get a USB adapter then that should be fine. If not you will need a SCSI card, cables and terminator.

Don't know about benchmarking but I bet Google could help you there.
