Hello everyone,

I have a few questions.

1) I am interested in learning how to interpret data as I have seen on this forum.
I noticed in one forum Budfred mentioned to another user that he was still in
bootcamp...does this forum have a traning program or was this due to number
of posts? If you could please point me to the a good place to begin learning. How do I learn what a clean computer is? Lots of info in those logs.

2) When folks post their logs can others use this information for wrong doing?
Not meaning that you guys would but the forums are open for any to read.
Sorry if insulting just being cautious.

Issue with computer: ( Will not go into to much detail as I believe this is wrong forum for help questions)

Everyonce in awhile during shutdown I get layered hidden window end program window pop up.

I have run adware, spybot, system mechanic 5, zonealarm spyware, etc... to see if I had any bad programs.

My question is what steps do I need to do before I post a log of sorts in the help section...meaning I do not have HighJackThis and have not used it. Are there other things I need to do such as not turn off computer. I have read through some of the forums and noticed you guys are fairly patient but I would like to be prepared so as not to take up to much of your time.

Thanks,

hockey man

Mikalos, welcome to the PCGuide!

Do you mean the HijackThis logs? The boot camp that Budfred is refering too is at the SpywareInfo forums. It teaches you how to interpret the HJT logs and clean them up. If you are interested go here (http://forums.spywareinfo.com/index.php?showtopic=34) and do as they say. Budfred is one of the gurus over there. I'm propably the one he refered to. I'm only a newbie, and haven't had a lot of time to work on it :( .

When folks post their logs can others use this information for wrong doing?

As far as I know you cannot use someones HJT log to access their pc. It only shows what processes are running on that pc. It does not show user data. Now, if you used it to "kill" the wrong things, then you could be in trouble!

Yep, the gurus here are. As long as you try to be nice, and apolagize for anything "stupid" things that one might do, people here will love ya. I'm not sure what to say about your problem, but I'm sure one of them do.

If you do want help, you will need to post a HJT log to review:

To run HJT, extract it to a permanent folder such as one
you create like C:\HJT. Close all open windows and
browsers and make sure that all programs are enabled if
you use msconfig. Run it and Scan, then Save the log.
When the log window appears, Right click to Copy it, open
your browser and come here to Paste the entire log. Do
not make any changes until it is checked since most items
are either benign or essential to the computer.

I posted in the PC Operating Systems and Software Windows section for the HJT logfile.

The proper location for HJT logs is Applications & Security.
I moved the log there.
