Hi i have been having some serious problems with my computer.
My specs are
amd athlon 2500xp
asus via A7V8X-MX motherboard
1024 mb pc3200 ddr400 memory
ati radeon 9600xt 256mb vid card
sound blaster live 5.1 digital soundcard
onboard lan
1x20gb hd(main drive)
1x40gb hd(program file drive)
My problems are that while playing games my computer crashes sporadically and often. While playing World of warcraft I can play anywhere from 5-20 minutes before it crashes to windows or sometimes the computer will restart. While playing the Battlefield 2 demo I can play anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour before it crashes. GTA san andreas also crashes but not nearly as often.
Now I believe I have narrowed the problem down to between my motherboard or my computers pc3200 memory. I have been told that my radeon 9600xt is incompatible with my motherboard. I also believe that my computer memory may be corrupt (I checked using memtest86).
And yes all my drivers are up to date and I recently updated my bios. I just upgraded from my old radeon 9200 to my 9600xt and I just bought a second stick of 512mb memory. I also just reformatted my computer. So i believe i have narrowed it down.
My question to you is what do you think is more likley causing the problems the motherboard or the memory or both or something else?
Please help!
Thanks!
