Hi guys, I am currently building my own PC but have found that upon turning it on I fail to get a POST screen. At first I thought this may be a problem with the graphics card, so I tried using a different card to see if it solved the problem, (the motherboard sadly does not have on board graphics) however it didn't. It appears that power is running to the PC components though, as both the processor fan, and the fan for the graphics card are operating correctly.

I noticed when turning the PC on, that there is no internal bleep and I am therefore wondering if the problem could be related to the motherboard or the processor. I have tried disconnected all none essential components, and have also double checked all of the wiring inside the PC but the problem still seems to persist. Are there any more obvious problems that could be causing this start-up problem, or is the next to step to replace the processor/motherboard?

The parts used in the building are as follows:

450w Power supply
512mb DDR 400 Ram
ASRock K7upgrade-880 socket A
AMD Sempron 2600+
160gig seagate SATA HD
Geforce 4 Ti200 graphics card
DVD Rom
CD Burner

Hope you can help!

Take the motherboard out of the case and place it on a non-conductive surface. Install the video card and one stick of RAM. Boot and let us know what happens.

Hi, guys. This is my first post here. I would appreciate any advice you could give me. I am assembling the brand new pc from brand new parts now with a

PCChips motherboard (M957G),
Pentium4 2.8GHz CPU,
400W case,
GeForce FX5200 video card, and
512MB400 RAM.

I have no POST, no video yet. I hear a single beep after a normal beep sound, which seems to imply RAM refresh failure. I've read and followed the flowchart and the default procedures provided by Pete. Reassembled the pc several times, minimized the system to the above four, placed the motherboard on a cardboard, putting a RAM in and out of the socket several times, but nothing worked so far. I substituted my RAM with another brand new one, but the result is the same. When I run the system without a RAM, I hear no beep, btw.

I feel like I have done my homework. Now, is it time to return the motherboard/CPU? Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to resolve this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
