Hey I hope this is the right thread, if not I apologize !
anyway , please take the time to read, its a doozie,,

Ok Ive got a barebone unit PC , or whatever you wanna call it. I bought it at one of those PC direct outl, ets where they pretty much build it from parts. Now its been a good PC/ but lately Ive had a alot of probs, an was wondering if some kind soul out there would maybe give me some repair advice , or point me to somewhere with some directions???

PC - Athlon amd processor 1.2 mhz , with a westell 120gb hd , an running windows xp , I cant recall the ram roght off but its like 528 or something , anyway

Description - Now please bare with me , this is a long confusing story!

See this PC is not like a HP/DELL/etc where if you gotta problem you cant fix that you can just
run the system restore an put it back to factory settings ,, atleast not that i know of.

Now when I got this thing I had to a cd to set the motherboard/drivers or whatever.
an i was running 2 hd's both were 120 gb westells , but I kept having probs so I ditched one of the HD;s

But what started all this was i power surge , that cut the PC off w/o shutting it down .
Atleast I think this is what started it , and people around my house werent shutting it down correctly. an there were times that i got freezes an had to do so myself. Now this wasnt like an everyday thing , but I think this is what caused the probs.

So I was getting a BLUE SCREEN w/ ''UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME''
an i tryed all kinds of stuff , an i finally took it to a local dude who supposedly fixes PC's

anyway I think he may have made it worse, cause all he did was somehow get windows to load, I think he basiclly cloned his HD onto mine,,
cause there were all kinds of files & programs that i know i dont use

well anyway , I got it back from an windows was loading , but evernow an then windows wouldnt load,

an the only way i could log on was to enter ''SAFE MODE'' Then delete a user account an start a new user account on windows,, then reboot an start all over w/ a new user

well after 3 or 4 times of doing this,, now this wont even work

MY PROBLEM NOW -
when the PC boots it goes to the
WINDOWS ENCOUNTERD A PROBLEM --ETC ETC AN SO ON
then you get to choose an option

LIKE SAFE MODE , SAFE W. COMMAND , SAFE W NETWRORK , LAST KNOWN CONFIG , ETC.

and none of those work

the windows xp screen [black screen w. logo]
will start and after like 5mins the pc will reboot an go back to the screen
with -
SAFE MODE , SAFE W. COMMAND , SAFE W NETWRORK , LAST KNOWN CONFIG , ETC.

an Ive tryed every single option to NO success.

So After a Long story - an this is the quick version!

What kinda options could i do to get windows to load ,,
or anything ?

Now Ive got a HP Pavillion , an older model like a 700mhz 20gb hd , that Im useing to try an track down a solution.

Thanks alot for taking the time to read,, Pateintly waiting for reply!!

I would put the Win XP CD you have, access the Recovery Console(it will instruct you with this and require that you hit the "R" key), it asks which version of Windows, hit the "1" key, when it asks for password, just hit "enter", then after the entry(which might be C: \Windows), type in chkdsk /r and hit Enter.
