Welcome to the PC Guide Forums!! :D

Indeed they do! They don't just disappear when you enter Canada! :p

Seriously, though, you can buy them from Canadian vendors. While some would argue about the reputation of Tiger Direct (http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/category/category_slc.asp?Sort=0&Nav=|c:107|&Recs=30), they nevertheless prove that you can buy the X-Fi in Canada.

It is acctually more like overkill for general use. If you are planning to do digital recording though, it would be a descent choice.

Just to be on the safe side, I'd wait for Saphalline or one of the media gurus to chime in.

ok sure but theres is just 1 thing... I have looked everywhere on the web to try and find a store that has the card and no one did. I live in canada, montreal. No one around here has the card. Or...its just me

Well, I snapped up one of the two Fatality cards that were being sold in the nation's capital (Ottawa) when the first batch was shipped. The only version that the retailers here have currently are the music edition cards. Wait a bit, and the rest of the line will come.

You could probably get by on just the Audigy2 ZS, especially if you currently have onboard audio. :p But i an not a nerd lives in Canada, too, so it might be good to consider that advice to wait. I doubt that any of the X-Fi's will drop in price anytime soon, but having more options is always good. :D

No!!! the x-fi Platinum is the same card with the live drive and remote and it is less expensive.

Why should you pay more just because some lame gamer put his name on it!

If you don't need the live drive front panel get the X-FI extreme music version.

Tiger Direct Canada has an even lower rating (http://www.resellerratings.com/reseller_list.pl?keyword_search=tigerdirect) than the one here in the US.

ok thanks for the info i didnt even notice the price. But what does the extra ram do???
Some got 64 mb of ram??

More RAM = more sound buffer. The X-Fi is a wondrous audio processor, and is capable of many different RAM configurations. I think 64MB is the max it can take, and it goes down to like 16MB or something like that. Can't remember off-hand, I'd have to Google it.

If you want to pay the extra money, go ahead! I don't think it's quite worth it, though.
