Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif!!!
If you havn't noticed, this is a pc computer forum and normally we help members extract their movies to digital formats like cd's and dvd's and not deal directly with broken cameras.
But your problem doesn't sound too difficult. Seems you either need to repair/replace the video camera or somehow play the tape on another one. But the downside to that is a tape in one machine doesn't always play clearly on another due to small variances in the magnetic head positions just like cassette tape recorders etc. So the best thing in your case, if you can, is to have the existing one repaired, but that is if it is worth it.
Could it be the battery or the ac power unit that is failed? What model and what have you tried so far? Does the door open and close? Does the viewfinder or lcd screen work if you turn it on?
Possibly someone here (there are a few video buffs here) will suggest a place to send it to or a forum more specific to video camcorders.
i have panasonic mini DV model no. PV-DV103d
i only used it twice and this "dew detected" thing comes up on the screen. now the cassette door wont close. it just so happen... im not the only one with this problem.
i couldnt bring it back because it was like 3 yrs ago. and i just figured its not fixable.
the cassette is JVC mini DV 60/90 ME
thanks for you help

Most camers stores will be able to do this for you...... Not very expensive at all....

I did a quick search on that problem, and found many people complaining about it. I even found someone on ebay who offers a fix for that exact problem on that exact model... how convenient for him, right??? His feedback looks great, and for $50.00 he claims the problem will never return.
ebay auction # 7562920141
now, do you have a computer related question :)

DOZ,
If your camera is still broken, and you don't want to spend the money to fix it, would you consider selling it? It just so happens that I am looking for a broken camera. I don't need to be able to record in the camera -- I just need it to provide a picture to a monitor. If you're interested, let me know.
Also, I transfer videos for people to DVD or whatever is needed. You might be able to find a local videographer who does that type of thing. If not, you could always send it to me and I could do that for you. Maybe we could work out a trade -- I'll transfer your tape for you in exchange for the camera. Then it wouldn't cost you anything. Just an idea.
I know this is an old post and you may not get this, but I'll check back in case you do.

Yes, a 2++ year old post is not likely to get much of a response...
Also, you are bordering on spamming, but since you haven't plastered a website or loaded your post with links, I thank you. You are trying to conduct things 'off board'...but as for a first post it still looks a bit 'iffy'.
