Yahooooo, I got my first virus. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Yea, I know. You're all thinking "What a nut case!" hmmmmmm, maybe http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/tongue.gif
Anyway, I sort of let it in just to see what happens. I wasn't positive it was, but seemed suspisious. Here are the details.
Virus name: Win32/magistr.b
Attachment name: GSWFA.com
It came to me from a friend in an automated E-mail.
Upon downloading, there was an .exe file in my download folder. When I double clicked it, I got what appeared to be a Touchpad-mouse configuring program.
My friend sent out a warning mail letting me know what was up. He said PCPitstop (http://www.pcpitstop.com) removed it and all was well.
On my system, AVG found 12 infected files (sheeesh, it was only on there for about 2 minutes) but could not remove them (Compaq driver files http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif ).
Hope nobody else gets it http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif
