hello i just ordered a 4g4a+ epox mainboard for P4 last week.
i installed the cpu, mainboard, power supply,cd, harddisk...everything and the computer had worked fine and i could start the computer.....until it required a system boot disk.
i tried to put in a lot of diff. bootable flobby disks but it still says"system boot failure, please insert a system disk and press enter",
and after that i tried to put in a xp installed-harddisk in but it still says the same.
now i have no idea what is going on. there is a way to fix this problem
please reply thank you.

Try to boot off of a Win95/98/ME Start up disk or your HD manufacturer's installation disk. If it still won't boot, your floppy drive has problems:
1) Bad floppy drive
2) Floppy cable not connected correctly or bad cable.
3) Bios not set to boot from floppy - when you boot does the computer access the floppy drive?

Once you can boot from the floppy drive you can run fdisk and format to partition and format the hard drive.

1)i tried to boot w both winME and WinXP startup flobby disks..dont work.
2)i tried to boot with a xp-installed harddrive which was working good in another computer.
3)i can tell you that no problem w the flobby disk drive and it's working but i will tried another cable for sure.
4)my bios setup was:
+first: fromflobby disk.
+second: from cdrom.
+third: from harddrive.
+boot from other device?: YES.

5)thank you for your reply.

Well to put it simple you can forget booting with that XP install from another computer..all you will see is a sudden blue flash of error codes and a reboot. Will have to reformat and install XP over. You said its checked to boot from floopy 1st then CDROM..leave that set for now. Check in the bios and make sure the hardrive is being detected. Also make sure that 1.44 Floppy is selected as the floopy drive to be used. Finally check the cables as mentioned before and also check the jumpers on your hardrive and CDROM drive to make sure there correct. if you have just one of each ..hardrive should be on IDE 1 and cdrom on IDE 2 with both set as master. Sounds like a cable or jumper issue being it wont boot from the cdrom also..stick a bootbale 98 disc in the cdrom but try to boot with a floopy..if the floopy fails it should boot with the cdrom..if both dont then its a bios or cable or jumper issue.

Hello, I am having a problem I have never experienced before.
When I start the puter it runs through the bios and then shuts off automatically. I have made it to the install screen with my windows rom and then it shut down again. I have check jumper settings and rechecked jumper settings with no joy. I have checked the power supply and it is working fine. I also went into Cmos and set it to optimal performance and saved and exited and it rebooted and then shut down again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the post in here.
Sounds like you need a full version of win 98, or win XP.
The rom that comes with other puters will not work on a new hard drive.
Also, if you put in the full version of 98 or XP and it will not find the rom, you need to reboot hit delete on bios boot and enter your cmos.
Make sure that you are booting from the cdrom on the 1st boot device than save and exit. After you install windows, make sure you reenter cmos and set your 1st boot device to the floppy. Sec. boot device. hard drive. Third boot device cdrom. Hope this helps.
