Hopefully someone is willing and able to help me out. I just bought a new custom built computer, (2 gigs ddr ram, Nvidia GeForce 6600 256meg Graphics card, 200 gig hard drive, Athlon FX-57 Cpu, ASUS A8N-SLI Premium mobo) and everytime I try to watch a movie, or play a game (black and white, Guildwars, Neverwinter Nights) it is fine for 5 mins then it crashes. A buddy of mine said the graphics card was most likely overheating. I've yet to get a new fan to aim at the graphics card, I wanted to get another opinion first considering I just dished out a good chunk of money for the comuter in the first place.
If anyone has any ideas as to what may fix this problem lemme know.

Hello LordSMaru, and welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif forums.
First it would be best if you started your own thread. That being said, since this is a new computer and most likely to be under warranty, I would take it back to the builder. If you go messing around too much it might void the warranty. ;)

Two excellent points jlr...
I've split this to begin a separate thread. And, yep, go for the warranty...
I was given a Dell office computer that actually had a warranty tear-away strip on the case housing (open the case and you void the warranty). Many custom builds also have colored hot glue or something similar on screws or cable connections to show tampering...

I would say 75% it is overheating. Not necessarily your video card, and actually probably not. I would say it is your processor. An fx-57 needs a very good cooling system. Some people go with water cooling. You can find some water cooling that is pretty good for under 100 USD on newegg.com. You should try there if you still have problems after that new fan comes in.
