I have an Abit IS7 w/ 865PE chipset, P4C 2.4GHZ/800MHZ FSB, Gigabyte 9600XT video card, Audigy LS sound card, 1GB G.Skill Dual DDR400 2-2-2-5, 300GB SATA-150 7200RPM 16MB, and an NEC +R/-R dual layer burner.

I want to copy VHS to DVD. What's the best way to do that at a reasonable price?

You might have better luck checking out

I tried a few cards with no luck. I ended up using Panasonic's DVD recorder, one that supports DVD-RAM discs. Hook your VCR upto it and record in real time. The nice thing about the RAM discs is the video is in mpg form, no enconding on your computer which almost always screws things up. You can copy the mpg to your hard drive and then do your editing. The DVD recorder (which acts as a free DVR for your TV! awesome!) is under $180, and I got a DVD+R/RAM burner by LG (they own Samsung) for like $40 on ebay. A little more than you'd spend on a capture card, but the quality is so much better and in the end you can utilize the toys a lot more than you would with a capture card

Thanks, but I should have mentioned that I'd like to use a few different editing programs that I have to edit and consolidate a few hundred VHS tapes.

I will give that other forum a try. I also want to state that I don't need a remote for the device, and that quality results are key.
