View Full Version : Video card not working?

I was doing diagnostics on my 3GB Seagate harddrive, reinserted the cable and fastened the HDD. When I then switched on the computer - which has a Linux Ubuntu distribution installed on it, but is currently booting from floppy diskette only - it would not light up my monitor: neither a Compaq V55, nor an Acer AL 1417 will show the boot page. I can enter commands from keyboard, because I can hear the HDD and floppy react, but not see anything. How do I fix this problem, which happened so unexpectedly?

Thanks in advance

Reseat the video card making sure it's fully seated.

If no luck, then clean off its contacts with alcohol.

If still no good, then try a different known working video card. If it works, then yours is bad.
If it does not work, then the video card's slot may be bad. If it's a PCI video card, then try it in a different slot.

Thx ski, I'll try that.
