Looking to build a new comp

Hey guys, new to the fourm. I don't have a ton of knowledge with computers and little building experince (I do have a friend with a comp engineering degree so he will build it for me). But, I am looking to get a new box for Gaming and gaming only, aside from other basic apps. I have about 1000 to spend. Any suggestions? Thanks guys.

Welcome to the PC Guide. Does that budget include a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers? Also are you in Canada or the US?
