Hi-hope someone can help.
I have a Micron 910ex monitor with my 3 year old Micron PC system(xp home, 512 ram, amd athlon 2000+). The monitor worked fine for several years-it would automatically turn on when I pushed the enter button on my PC to start my system. The monitor power button was pushed by someone and ever since, when I try to turn the monitor on manually, the green light stays on for about 2 seconds then it turns to amber(sleep?) and shuts off never really starting. The display vnever comes on. I cannot get the monitor to stay on to adjust the settings. I checked my PC power settings and drivers and everything seems ok.
Any suggestions/feedback is greatly appreciated

Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif forums.

First, did you try to push the power button again? Try and see if that switches it to the off position. Then try the on position.

Also, what is the status of the PC in this case. If it is off, yo may get the amber light.

Yes the pc is on. The green light stays on for two seconds then goes amber no matter how long I hold it or how many time I push it. I get the same results on another running PC.

Most likely the monitor is shot. The way you can tell for sure is to try the monitor on a different system and try a a different monitor on this system. The results will tell you what's going on. It could be the video card......

I'm not sure if the moonitor is shot--I guess if the switch does not sty on it probably is..Just a shame--there should be another way to get the screen to come up--to get it to stay on.....

It's a shot in the dark because I don't know if all monitors are like this, but I have an old monitor I use in the basement that has a bad switch, but it will come on automatically when I plug the power cord in. So I taped "do not shut off" over the power button, and it has not failed to come on when I plug it in. Worth a shot. :)

If you get a green light that turns amber, you don't have a power problem. The monitor is going into sleep mode because it doesn't sense a video signal. My video cable isn't hard-wired to the monitor, there is a connector that can come loose. Is yours like that?

If the monitor won't work on another machine, or if the connection is internal, there is probably a short somewhere along the signal path. A reputable repair shop could probably fix something like that inexpensively. DO NOT attempt to open the monitor yourself to check. That could be hazardous to your health.
