Windows XP Pro. OEM is on sale (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16837102153) this weekend. I can afford the software this weekend, but not much else. Any ideas on how I could pull this off, and as cheaply as possible?
I am building from ground up, so would a cable or two (or something else?) count as "hardware"? The only other cheapest thing left is my case (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16837102153) , which is way out there, but I might be able to pull it off if I wrap my pennies. Anything more expensive than that is totally out of the question for this weekend.
Any ideas?
Duh, I should have put this in "buying and upgrading advise", so sorry.

You will notice when you add windows to the cart Newegg will add a $5 cable to your order, then discount the cable for $5. ;)

Thats all you have to do. :)

Ya gotta love that :D

That's a M$ approved, authorized $160 discount! :D ;) :p

And it really is automatic.

The $5 cable they add and then discount, my man...that's the hardware.

And if for some reason they don't add the $5 cable (something like a CD audio cable), do it yourself. :p

That's a great price, unless they are raping you for shipping, go for it. My best price is $144.00

Yes it's that easy. :) Just try it to find out for yourself. Add it to the cart and see what happens. :p

And Classic is right that's the lowest I have seen it that I can remember. Free shipping and all.

I think M$ sets the rock bottom dollar price that can be charged by vendors and Newegg is normally right at the very lowest. I have to believe M$ is behind the price decrease...or Newegg is giving up some ....sheckels...as Classic would say.

It is a damnded good price.

Ok, then, I'm going to buy it right now.

The advise was right on the money! Crying shame that I had to buy a "CABLE Y|POWER SPLITTER 5-1/4-OEM" for $0.
Thanks newegg! Wait a minute, I wonder what my free cable will look like?

Get a load of this, I got my cable today from N.J. The software is on its way from Tenn.

I hope the cable comes in handy.

Hehehe. :D I remember when I had stuff coming from Jersey, CA, and Tenn. all at the same time. I think it all showed up on different days too.

You never know when a spare Y-cable might come in handy. ;)
