computer crashes

my computer crashes all the time like every 15 mintues, my computer crashes sometimes when im starting my computer the comp stays on but my monitor goes blank and the little light on the monitor blinks yellow and green as if im away and also i cant turn my video card which is a Geforce 6800 gt up to good graphics, they have to stay under normal to play any kind of game otherwise it all just goes away. I reinstalled xp and it still did it so i was wondering if someone could please help me find away to fix it, i would be very greatful. thx

Make sure the video card's fan is running.

If that's ok, then shut down the system, disconnect the power cord, and reseat the video card making sure it's fully seated. Also, clean any dust off its fan and heatsink, and make sure its heatsink is securely mounted. Then, clean any dust on the CPU's fan and heatsink.

If that does not help, then remove the computer's cover, and run an external fan.

Finally, please provide all of your system's specs(incl. the power supply's watt rating), and the temperatures for the CPU and system with the computer's cover installed and no external fan running.

i tried the video card thing taking it out also the fan works, and also i just bought my power supply about a month ago. thx

You're welcome, and thanks for posting the specs.

Did you check for dust on the fan and heatsink for both the video card and CPU?
Did you remove the computer's cover, and run an external fan?
What are the CPU and system temperatures when and when not playing games?
Are the MB's capacitors leaking, bulging, or ruptured?

im having a bunch of memory errors and no now i cant even load windows after it says what kind of mothboard i have, it freezes. um ive called xfxforce.com and asus.com and they think it has to do with memory because i have these errors since the first day so im getting [Corsair Value Select Dual Channel 1024MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz Memory ( 2 x 512MB )]
yeah i cleaned up the dust but i dont think that the prob because these things have been happening from the first week ive had the comp,
