I just thought about this and came here and found it it can actually be done. I got 3 hours to sleep before work tomorrow, sorry to pester you guys I just don't have the time to read up. =/ Wish I did.

Anyways I just have a couple questions. I don't really make enough money to go out and buy badass stuff for my computer, but is the Video Card I have installed basically the key factor in determining whether I can do this or not?

I don't do gaming much at all anymore so I'm not real worried about picture quality, I just think it would be cool. So what's a good cheap card I could get just for the bare necessities?

ALSO here's the big question. My card is kind of ****ty its out of an '03 Compaq, no S-vid or anything cool like that, but I'm pretty good with electronics and I'm all about the home made stuff, and getting my crap working with inadiquite knowledge, tools, and supplies. Keeps the bad thoughts away, you know?

Is there any way to pull a McGyver and hook my **** up to the TV just with some speaker wires and the standard monitor socket? I figure there's gotta be a way to make a home made adapter. If anyone thinks they can give me any ideas, or even better, some kind of diagram or directions how to do this, even if you can tell me 'yeah its possible', I'd really appreciate it. I just don't want to start fiddling with it and blow myself up if there's no chance in hell I'm going to get anywhere with it.

Please, please hit me back I'll check back tomorrow at work!

Thans!

Hello cryoburn and welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif forums.

Most modern video cards have S-video out. Even cheap ones. Does you computer have a graphics slot, either AGP or PCIe x16? A model# for you computer would help. If all you want is to simply hook up you computer to the TV then you can get a cheap PCI video card for around $30-$40. It wouldn't be anything great but you said your not worried about that.

I don't recommend trying to rig something up. It can probably be done but there are better/safer alternatives. ;)
