Everytime I boot my computer ChkDsk runs. It is as if I shut my computer down incorrectly when I have not. This happens whether I shutdown, restart or have to do a forced restart. Does anyone know how I can stop it from happening.

I usually cancel it. A couple of times I have let it run and it has said there was an error but was fixed by cross writing (I think).

Any help much appreciated

PS This is XP Proffesional SP2

Startup = www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml [free]
You could install this and see if Chkdsk shows up in it as being listed in one of the "Run" locations in the registry or elsewhere [that would make the program run at startup].
If it does you can use this very useful program to delete that setting.
