I'm looking to get a new M/B and looking at the 815e chip boards. The question I have is the onboard audio and video. Are there any prob with diabling the audio and video on boards so I can use what I have now. Any boards that anyone can recomend would be appreciated.

I try to stay away from integrated boards completely, don't like 'em at all. If the video or sound ever goes out, chances are you'll have to change the motherboard. Some people in these forums have tried disabling the onboard video or sound and adding another card, and ran into nothing but trouble. I tried it on a Compaq with built in modem, and couldn't get it to work. We got Windows to see the new modem, but it still wanted to see a modem at the end of the built in plug, and refused to dial out through the modem we installed. It plugged into a connector on the motherboard through a short ribbon cable. Finally had to go back to the original onboard 28,800 modem and give the man's computer back after 4 hours of tinkering without charging a penny...I've seen similar problems with onboard sound and video.

Some boards have jumpers to disable onboard components, some don't, depends on the board. I think some can be disabled in BIOS too, but not sure. I would stay away from them entirely.
