OK so I bought the XFX 7800GT and got the game (eventually) COD2 and so everyone
knows, the card works freaking great. I couldnt have asked for more. All of my PC
games run beautifully now. Especially quake 4!

now u guys are making me and my nice, respectable RADEON 9800 PRO feel ashamed of ourselves.... :(
BTW, what is the comparrison between these two cards? or is there even one?

The 9700/9800 series were so advanced for their time that they can still hold up decently against the best games around. My own 9700 Pro can play BF2 just fine. Not at high resolutions with AA & AF, but it's playable.

Let me just state that I came from a 1.5G Dell running a GeForce2 GTS 32MB video card that was an expensive upgrade at the time. I have served my time in the "under powered computing" club; in fact, I may have even been a board member :D I would have loved to have one of those in my old pc, but it never happened. :(
And I just got good news too, my copy of COD2 is shipping out today! :p

My first custom-built PC came after struggling on an old Compaq for several years. Here's my tale of the "under powered computing club"...
Compaq
Pentium MMX 166MHz
48MB PC66 SDRAM
1MB onboard video
2GB hard drive 4500rpm
16X CD-ROM drive
1st custom PC
Athlon Thunderbird 1.2GHz
256MB PC2100 DDR RAM
64MB GeForce2 Ti
60GB hard drive 7200rpm
16X Plextor CD-RW drive
How's that for a huge jump in performance? :p
