My Gigabyte GA-7VRX just recently overheated and burnt out and now I need a new one. However, I don't know enough about what's out there to pick something new so I'm asking for any suggestions. I'm looking to spend about $100 but I am willing to spend more if its worth it. I don't remember all the hardware specs but I run an AMD Athlon XP 2600+, 160MB hard drive, 1.2GB ram, and an ATI Radeon 9550 graphics card. Please recommend anything you think would suit my needs or that you have had a good personal experience with.

Welcome to the boards. There are a good number of people here that can help you as they have helped me. First question, what do you want to do with comoputer?

Nothing too extreme, some gaming and movies here and there, moderate music usage, but otherwise pretty much standard computer stuff. But I am always looking to upgrade so I don't want to limit myself for the future or anything.

The problem is your CPU requires an older socket. This limits upgradability right there. So you either get old technology or you are looking at a new CPU/MOBO/Video Card combo that would give you future upgradability. What do you want to do?

Well if I can get the old technology for cheap then I would probably hold off on upgrading that much hardware.

Epox 8RDA3+ (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813123233) - One of the best NForce2-class mobo's around. Cheap, too. Definitely a good buy. You'll get GbE and SATA 1.0, so it has the most modern features that an old Socket A mobo can have.
