View Full Version : Help! Which PIII Laptop?
I need to get a good PIII laptop URGENTLY! It must have 750-850 MHz, DVD ROM and a 14" screen. I have been looking at the Sony VAIO XG29, the Dell Inspiron 4000e and the Compaq Armada M700. Any suggestions? I basically need to know if there's anything terribly wrong with these computers so I can move on and start thinking of other models.
Thx
PS: btw, my price limit is $3800.

Can't tell you much about the Sony or Dell, except tht they both have pretty good reputations.
I can safely say Compaq is one to stay away from, they're crap. I've tried to deal with their so-called extended warranty, it's a joke. Components are usually the cheapest they can find, not only the hardware but the software is proprietary too, they store part of the BIOS in a partition on the hard drive forcing you to use their restore disk instead of a stand alone Windows CD if you have problems.
I also just found out my sister's Presario, which has been a headache literally since the first time it was booted up, (refused to shut down), has an HCF modem, the worst you can possibly find.
From what I've seen on the forums, the Sony will probably be the most commonly recommended, but I don't know much about it firsthand...
