Hi guys
I'm wondering what I can do to make my fire wire devices/driver/connection more reliable. I trying to deal with the Canupus ADVC 100 in particular.
It keeps dropping the device then picking it up and dropping it etc and I'm pretty sure that it is Windows thats the cause.

Try replacing the cable first. I deal with Firewire connections to Linux-based print servers and they are generally reliable but the cables are sensitive to dirt, making connections erratic.

Thank you PrntRhd
How do you clean them, Qtip and alcohol? Not the whussy stuff from a drug store but the Methynol stuff . . .

I blow out the ends of the cables and receptacles with "canned air", and replace the cables if the problem continues.

Hi
I finally figured out why my fire wire kept dropping out, the power leads to one of the hard drives were not completely . . connected, seems it affected all fire wire devices.
Reattached the leads and now, no problem.
