connect computer to hdtv

Hi,
Unfortunately I listened to the store clerk who said the tv I purchased could easily be connected to our computer to use the tv as the monitor.
The tv is a Samsung Slimfit TV with built-in HDTV tuner and the computer is a Compaq Presario SR112ONX.
The TV has a S video and HDMI ports but the computer has neither. What is the best way to fix this; is there a way?

You need to get a computer video card with a DVI output. You can then purchase a DVI to HDMI cable. Buy the cable online and save a ton of money... the video card is probably about the same price anywhere. The clerk should have told you that.

I used to sell TVs for one of those "big box" retailers and I tell you what you should do.... You should go back to that store and tell them the sales person mislead you and you demand some compensation or you're going to return the TV. I've seen that sort of thing all the time. The last thing these stores want is a returned TV because by law they have to sell it as an "open box" and knock money off anyhow... You might get a few % off or a free video card...
