I woke up one day and my PC was off, So i tried everything then thought it was my power supply that failed. So i bought a new one. i installed it correctly and tried to turn it on..Nothing, Dead silence :S. My CPU fan Spins about 1/4 of the way around. So i was just trying things and ended up unplugging the 4 pin 12v. And it turns on, but my monitor does not come on.
but when i plug in the 12v it does not turn on at all, but used too.
Can anyone explain why this is happening?
my pc is a AMD athlon ECS L7Vmm3.
I do not understand this at all.
thank you

If I am understanding this correctly, the original poster had an issue by which his pc did not boot properly. Correct?
The first thing to do would be to try and determine why the pc would not power on to begin with. This could be for many reasons, but we will need to know more info on the specs of the computer in order to begin discussing that.
As far as removing the 4-pin 12v cable, this is the cable that provides power to the CPU. When you removed it, did your computer beep? You will not have video without this plug because it provides power to the processor. If you removed it and the machine went to POST, this means that something is wrong with your CPU. However, let me ask you this; does your motherboard have a 4-pin 12v jack only or does it have a 8-pin jack? What kind of CPU is in there?
Possible causes could be: damaged/defective CPU; damaged/scorched 12v connector; CPU fan/heatsink not installed properly.
Give us your computer make/model or specs if you built it yourself and provide as many details as possible so everyone here can offer you the best advice possible.
