I'm really disappointed that Morpheus is caving in just before I decided to take the plunge with broadband service. Is there another good alternative? What are you guys using, if anything?

Hi pentachris,

I'm currently using AUDIOGALAXY (http://www.audiogalaxy.com/?). It's pretty good. I know it's known for spyware but I haven't had any trouble. I can't find any of the suspected files. I don't get unusual ads. Ad-Aware dosen't have a problem with it. It's free.

The best site I've seen is emusic.com (http://emusic.com/). It's a pay site and supposedly the artists are getting their slice of the pie. But it's expensive. $120 per year...or there abouts. A lot of good music, though.

The old version of morpheus still works, under the following conditions:

it must not have been installed when it stopped working and it must not be the preview edition...

Presumably, you could edit the registry to take out the morpheus stuff and just reinstall it, but I don't know...

Haven't had a chance...since I just reinstalled windows (3rd time this week http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif ) I'm gonna install an old version and see what happens...

It may only work on 98, that's kinda the impression I got from the article...so I don't expect to have much luck...

If you do a search at download.com you can find a bunch. Heck you can still use Napster through the opennap servers. Try Kazaa, Direct Connect, eDonkey, Furthur Network, Grokster, Gnuetella, Limelight and the list goes on. And remember to support the musicians by buying their cds and going to their shows.
