Dear Friends.

HI I am new to this forum. I hope someone can help me with this problem. here it is:

When I press the start button on my PC this is what happens:...Both the green and red lights(meant for motherboard and harddisk respectively) turn on, however there is no beeping tone, which I normally hear during trouble free bootups and neeldless to say, the PC dosen't bootup.

The monitor is on and there is power being suppleid to it, however nothing appears on the screen...I am wondering what has happened. I than hold down the start button for a few seconds to shut down the system. I turn off and unplugg the mains from the wall, than plugg it in again and press the start button on the PC, the PC boots up properly as if nothing went wrong!!!!!

This has happened a few times I am wondering why this happens...Could this be a problem with my PC power supply??

Some time before these problems started I had made an intresting observation about my PC , but did not take it seriously than as the PC was functioning properly. This is what I observed:

Each time I plugg in the PC's 3pin to the wall and switch it on(Pls note that I have not switched on the PC yet, as in I havent pressed the start button on the PC's casing), I hear a kind of funny noise from the PC and it is comming from the back, somewhere near the power supply unit. It is not a mechanical sound. It is a little like the sound some of us migt have heard when we switch on the lights in our houses. I am very sure this sound was not there in my PC and only started to appear recently...which was of course followed by the BOOT-UP problems I have described earlier.

I would much appreciate if someone can explain to me why I am having this boot up problem and if my Power Supply is the culprit.

Thank you so much..
