View Full Version : slave hard drive is not shown in windows

my friend have a 40 GB hard disk drive.

he attched it in his system as primary slave(through jumper setting), he also check it also in bios setting and found it there as a primary slave.

but in windows it, windows does not show any slave hard disk.

according to my friend there was Fat/Fat32 file system was working on that hard disk last time when he use it on other system.

so what sort of problem it is , and how can i slove it.

Tell your friend to repartition and reformat the HD.

If the drive shows in device manager it may be inappropriately formatted.

If you are running WinXP/2K run diskmgmt.msc and report if the drive appears there.

Is it necessary to find and access any data on this drive?
