Hi guys, my friend and I just built new system that base on Intel processor. We have run this system for about a month, from the beginning I think it is normal for the new system that have the high temperature, originally 56 degree Celsius during the first time this system been switched on, but now on, it come too worse in temperature, the system always gets overheated. We have measured the system temperature, the CPU temperature sometimes may reach up to 70 degree when multi tasking, we think it is too bad, we realize about it. There are a few factors that maybe contributed to this problem:-
the dimension of the motherboard is too big not suitable with the size of the casing.
the jumpers too messy and looking too worse from every one’s eyes.
there are only two fans on this system, a CPU fan and a casing fan.
We do not have any problem on solving all the causes above, but here we looking for the advice and tips for buying those items like the ATX casing and others. We don’t means we can’t chose the best for us, but we trying to get the best, so opinion from you guys are very-very welcome.
Beside that, to someone who maybe own the same or most equally same to our system specification and facing the same problem, the high temperature of the CPU, please let us know, I’m scared if only me and my friend have ever facing this problem. Here is our system specification:-

CPU Type Intel Pentium 4 540, 3200 MHz
Motherboard Name Abit IC7-MAX3
Motherboard Chipset i875P
System Memory 1024 MB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM)

i'm so sorry if i have post this thread at the wrong place,, so sorry...but ithink it most related to the core stuff.... :D

See http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?t=42931 :)

I don't know whether it will make you laugh or whether you will take it seriously and do it, but it's worth a look.

Hehehee, or you could go the more conventional route... ;)

That is some awesome hardware right there. Top-of-the-line for its time. Anyway, the lack of case cooling is the problem with that computer. It needs more fans. Here's (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811129164) an example of a case with excellent fan options. If you click on the pictures, you'll notice it has room for 4 case fans. (Case fans do not include the CPU fan, PSU fans, or mobo fans - those all serve another purpose.) There are spots for two 80mm fans up front, one of them for blowing over the lower hard drive cage. There is a spot for an 80mm fan in the side window, this blows over the vid card. Then there is a spot for a 120mm fan in the back, for exhaust. While you wouldn't necessarily need to fill all of these fan spots, every modern computer case needs at least one fan in the front blowing in, and one fan in the back blowing out. Again, this doesn't include any fans that the PSU has.

So adding more fans to that computer would make the temps go down. What's happening right now is that the CPU is heating up the inside air of the case, and then the hot air isn't going anywhere. So the air just keeps getting hotter and hotter until the CPU overheats and the system shuts down. Either add more fans (at least 2 case fans) or get a larger case with more fans.

thanks, for the first time i see it, it making me lough.... :D but after that, it make me thinking how creative mini-me he is, hehehehhehe, budget!!! maybe the second pc with the same cooling system born this weekend, :)
