In my observation,I have one PC running ME, it doesn't seem to take advantage of increased memory over 128 like one would expect with say NT. Can't hurt, but not as much bang for the buck. (98 SE would be a better choice anyhow, doesn't have as much baggage running in the background!)

Windows ME won't make much use of the extra memory. But your apps. might.
If you run Photoshop or 3d Max you'll find the extra memory more than pays for itself.

You will also Notice that Windows 98 will double the size of your swap file if you have it set to the default allowing win98 to control the swap size.

At least that's what I found using Win98 SE when I installed another 128 meg of PC133 to my system

The law of diminishing returns applies with memory and performance. You may see a significant increase in performance with added memory, but only to a point. Then, it will drop off. Naturally, this all depends on your system and applications in use. So, it is important to know where that point is from a dollars spent vs expected performance point of view.
