Have you thought about putting the BIOS update onto a CD and hten working from there? (Go inot BIOS and set computer to boot from CD if neccesary)

Some update programs work only with floppy!

Most mobo manufacturers have BIOS flash tools that work from within Windows. While this is not the best and most reliable method of flashing the BIOS, it's the one I use on systems without a floppy drive. Standard precautions apply, and keep in mind that the warranty almost never covers a failed BIOS attempt. However, if anything goes wrong, you can usually just order a new BIOS chip.

I have an Asus board and this allows repairing the BIOS (to replace the original after a bad update proceedure) by using the CD that came supplied with the board, so I am working on the assumption that it will also allow oyu to update the BIOS in the same way.
