Hello,
can anyone offer any advice on this problem please. I upgraded my own computers memory.I took out a 32mb PC100 Dimm module in perfect working order (3.3V). I put the same module in my friends machine. His motherboard also uses 3.3V PC100 dimms. Yet with this module in,his PC crashes.GPF's galore. Take out my module, and its fine. For some reason, the module works in my machine but not his.Yet the motherboard manual says both machines use PC100 3.3V,which the memory is.I wonder if there's something I need to set in the BIOS,or something else.
Any idea's would be most appreciated.
Thanks everyone!
Ray

I have seen three motherboards, EPOX and TYAN brands, that crash as you describe if I ran the PC100 memory at 100MHz. Since I did not want to go to the extra expense of getting PC133 memory, I bumped the memory speed down to 95 and 89MHz respectively, and they became stable. The EPOX manual does say that PC125 or better was required. I was able to adjust the multiplier so that the CPU was not being slowed down.
