Hi everyone,

Ok, listed below is all the components that I'm putting in my system and would like to know if there are any known issues with compatability between the products (like the A7V and MX300). If what I have selected will definitely cause problems, could you please suggest other alternatives so that I'm don't have to fiddle around with it for a week to get it running right, or send it back. I am on a bit of a budget so try not to suggest the most expensive alternates, just ones that will work at a modest price. Thanks http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

AMD T-Bird 900E
ASUS A7V MB (KT 133)
generic PC133 RAM
Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 27GB UDMA66
ASUS V6800 GeForce 256 DDR Deluxe
250W case (300W better?)
Diamond Monster sound MX400
Toshiba 12X DVD-ROM (SD-M1402-S)
Cambridge PCworks 4-point surround sound FPS1000
3COM Etherlink XL 10/100 Base T 3C905
Samsung 17" monitor

Power Supply: 300W would certainly be better.

RAM: Check prices, generics don't seem to have a great reputation, and the price difference might not be that much of a deterrent. Kingston and Crucial both have pretty good reputations. I've never had any trouble with generic memory, but maybe I've been lucky...

CSO (http://www.computersurplusoutlet.com) and Price Watch (http://www.pricewatch.com) might have some prices worth checking out, if you don't mind waiting a week or so for shipping. Watch out for the dealers that don't post shipping prices on Price Watch, you'll be better off paying a few buck$ more for the part and 1/4 as much for shipping somewhere else.

Can't say much about the rest, I haven't had any dealings with most of the newer hardware...

Soon as I come up with all the answers...they change the questions!!

I would proably go with Creative Sound blaster live!

There are 3 versions and all have an "automatic update" program.

As for the NIC card you can get away with one that's cheaper (10baseT only) unless you need the "Auto sense" function.

But it a nice system the way it is.

Have fun http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
