You might consider doing the research for saphalline. He's a fantastic resource here, and aggravating him might be counterproductive. Just my $0.02

Anyone?

Should i take it to CompUsa and have them take a look at it and put it in correctly?

You must have added a vid card, too, because that thing came with onboard video. SiS 651 chipset. Max RAM of 1.5GB, probably 3 DIMM's. That RAM you added... is it single-sided? Could be a speed issue, too. Try resetting the CMOS. Or start it up with just the original RAM in it, go into the BIOS, and manually configure the RAM speed.

It's probably just a problem with the SiS chipset not wanting to swallow the new RAM.

Why am I cursed by SiS chipsets lately?...

Ok, english, what should I do how do I SIS?

EDIT: And I don't know what you mean by single-sided

SiS is the manufacturer of the chipset on that mobo.

Try clearing the CMOS first. Look for a jumper on the mobo that says "clear_CMOS" or something like that. Put the jumper in the clear position for a few seconds, then put it back. If you can't find the jumper, unplug the power supply from the wall, then remove the mobo battery (CR2032 button cell) for about 10 minutes, then put it back in, plug the power supply back in, and start it up. See if that helps.

Single-sided means there are RAM chips on only one side of the stick of RAM.

Mines double sided and I'm really not techy enough to do this I don't get where the motherboard is or how to access it or what I quit ughhhh computers are frusturating

The mobo is easy, it's the big giant green square (PCB) that you put the RAM into. Find the little button cell battery on the mobo, that's probably the easiest way to clear the CMOS. It's held down by a black bracket and a metal thingie (no real way to describe that without a pic). Push the metal thingie out away from the battery and it should come free. Make sure you take the battery out while the computer is unplugged.

So if I put it in and out:

a) Will it ruin the computer?
b) Will it fix the problem?

a) - No.
b) - Maybe. That's why we're trying it.

Return the RAM then. It's obviously not compatible with your system. Go on Crucial's website (www.crucial.com) and get RAM that is 100% guaranteed to work.

Ok, then I'll just go to CompUsa and get a new one, so I have PC2100, what will work with that?

Like which DDR I don't get it, they couldn't find a PC2100

Crucial has RAM that is 100% guaranteed to work with your system if you follow their search engine. If you go with random RAM from a retail store, you can't be absolutely certain it will work. At least try to get quality RAM from Corsair or Kingston. The cheap stuff is cheap for a reason.

I'm gonna go and return the one that I got, I dunno if they'll take it back, and I don't order online so I guess I can get ones I think will work and use them
